This week's Guest Wednesday Poster!

 Yay! Today marks our second Guest Wednesday! It was great! We hosted Diana, Ryan and Marnie from the Columbia Basin Water Smart team and they came and shared water conservation tips, stories and fun planting activities for the kids today!

Because of the traffic due to the construction going on the paving of the roads here in Fruitvale, I knew we would probably be running a little late today! So for the early birds we started a colouring craft of making giant bookmarks!

 I printed out a template I found online that goes with our space theme of the week and the kids had fun coming up with far off planets! We had planets called "Potato", "Lonemone", "Ice Cream Planet", "Red Lava" and "Cookie Planet" delicious! Once they finished decorating and writing about their planet we glued them on to tough poster board paper to give them some strength and to make 'em durable enough to hold up well as giant bookmarks! :)

 Then we had our presentation from Ryan, Marnie and Diana! They introduced themselves and talked about the importance of water and how important it is to try to have the least impact on our earth for our future generations!



They also shared a great story with beautiful illustrations done by Diana about Wally the Water Smart Fish and the Water Dragon! I should have snapped a shot of the book! It was fantastic!

Then we did a great experiment on water conservation while brushing our teeth! So remember guys to turn the water off when you brush! You save soooooo much more water that way!

Then afterwards we went outside for some sun and also to plant some seeds with the water we used for our toothbrushing experiment! Everyone got a pot, some soil and a seed to plant!

Afterwards to round out our Guest Wednesday for the week, we went back to finishing out our giant bookmarks! Although thinking about it now, I shouldn't whipped out "The Lorax" to read to the kids! That would've been a good one!

But anyways, we finished off our giant bookmarks and then went on the hunt for some good books to read!
